As the fish market continues to experience significant growth the mislabelling of fish in ports, markets and restaurants also continues to increase. Current identification methods of fish are costly and can require in-lab equipment with trained professionals. This application note demonstrates the capabilities of the NeoSpectra-Micro spectral sensor to differentiate between high- and low-quality fish species. The study was able to clearly demonstrate that NeoSpectra’s NIR spectral sensors can be used in the field to correctly identify species of similar-looking fish.
